I got INKED!!!

Today was a big day for me - I got my first (and only) tattoo! I've been contemplating getting one for quite a while now and finally took the plunge! The 3 flowers I got are my birthstone color, my husband's and my son's. I LOVE the way it turned out and am so glad I got it. Since I am prone to pass out whenever I get my blood taken, I was scared to death I would pass out getting the tat. But I was a trooper, thanks to my great friend, Diana, who came along with me. Not to say it didn't hurt like hell, but we watched the dumbest movie during the process and it took my mind off of it. My son (who just turned 6) saw it and said, "Mommy, its so pretty. Make sure not to take a bath so it won't come off!" He doesn't quite understand its permanent!!! So I'm sure more questions will come and when the time comes when he says he wants one, I will tell him when he's 39, he can get one just like mommy did!!!

Holy cow! Seems like most people get something the size of a pencil eraser for their first. That's incredible!

marylou-
I know! I actually was planning on having it smaller and then when the tattoo artist showed me her drawing, I fell in love with it. The way I look at it...if you're going to get one, make it work and show it off for the world to see!
Cheers!

I was 30 when I got my first one (a subtle one on my leg) and I had intended on getting one at 40.

That was going to be my story to my kids too...by 30 I can't imagine I'll have much say! :)

Jennifer-
a little of both!!!! It wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. Let's just say it was "tolerable"!!!

You are braver than I. The tatoo I'm sporting today is a rub on free fake one I got a gardening show.

Rock on Woman! Tat's are fun, that would be a cool profession, but I still need my eraser to many times to get into that one. I did design mine though and my husbands, left the inking to the pro!

Like the tattoo how long it take to do?

Thanks for all the comments on my new tattoo!!!

To pembrokeshire - it took a little over an hour to do. I still can't believe I survived it without fainting! I'm telling you, if I can do it, ANYONE can - I am truly a big wuss when it comes to needles and blood!! What's funny, is that after she was completely finished and I looked at it, I saw blood seeping through one of the flowers and that's when I just about lost it!
